Heritages renovated in Lalitpur with Indian assistance.

Lalitpur, April 27 – Nine historically, and archaeologically important places in the district have been renovated with the Indian assistance.

 

The dilapidated Napichandra Mahabihar, historic public home, and cremation areas were renovated in three years.

 

The cost for the renovation was Rs 30 million. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, inaugurated the renovated places amidst a programme on Saturday.

 

The Society for Development of Lalitpur had taken initiative for the repair. Addressing the programme, Ambassador Prasad said that he was happy to have a chance to assist in the cultural sector in addition to socio-economy of Nepal.

 

"The historical places of Buddha era were important not only in Nepal but also in India and the entire world," he said.

 

He expressed commitment that India was ready to assist Nepal in the preservation of religious, historic and archaeological sites.

 

According to him, the Indian government had agreed to set up a big public home in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

 

Ambassador Prasad said he was devoted to reaching India-Nepal relations to a new height and expecting assistance from peace loving Nepalis.

 

The locals gave him a felicitation letter in recognition to the assistance to the renovation. Other speakers including culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi said many cultural heritages were in dire need of renovation. RSS
