Nepal striving to accomplish ADB-funded projects on time: Energy Minister

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 4: A meeting took place between Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka and Arnaud Cauchois, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Nepal.

During the meeting held today at the Ministry of Energy in Singha Durbar, discussions were centred on the progress of ADB-supported projects in the energy sector and potential future collaborations. Minister Khadka expressed his gratitude for ADB's support in Nepal's energy development and voiced his confidence that this support would continue in the future.

Minister Khadka highlighted the government's commitment to completing ADB-funded projects as quickly as possible, acknowledging the challenges faced during construction. He assured that the government would address these challenges promptly. He also mentioned that the government is paying attention to ensuring necessary inter-ministerial coordination during the construction process.

Minister Khadka urged ADB to invest with confidence, noting that the coalition of two major political parties has formed a strong government. He stated that Nepal is on the path to becoming a middle-income country and that continued support and cooperation from ADB are essential.

In the meeting, ADB representative Cauchois briefed Minister Khadka on the progress of projects being implemented with ADB's support and the challenges encountered during their construction. He mentioned that ADB has been a longstanding partner in Nepal's development efforts.

During the meeting, Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel of the Ministry, along with energy experts Prabal Adhikari and others, expressed their gratitude for ADB's support in the energy sector and requested that this support continue in the future.
