NEA restores power to all industries
Nepal Electricity Authority Restores Power to All Industries Affected by Line Cuts
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reconnected electricity to all industries, the power lines of which were cut. This move follows Sunday’s (Nov. 10) Cabinet decision, which was implemented during the NEA Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, resolving the dedicated and trunk line tariff disputes.
NEA spokesperson Chandan Kumar Ghosh confirmed that power has been restored to all 34 industries previously affected by disconnections.
The government decided to collect the long-disputed dues for "dedicated" and "trunk line" tariffs using Time of Day (TOD) meters. It also mandated that power be reconnected to the affected industries by noon on Monday (Nov.11).
The NEA Board meeting initially scheduled for th said day was postponed due to a lack of quorum but reconvened yesterday to execute the decision.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation released the Red Commission’s report on Monday, highlighting discrepancies in the NEA’s accounting.
