Hetauda Cement to restart production from mid-December

BAGMATI, DECEMBER 2: Hetauda Cement Industry is set to resume cement production in the first week of the Poush month (mid-December). Although the management initially planned to restart production in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), delays in the repair of critical equipment have postponed operations.

"Repairs on key equipment, including the clinker machine, are still ongoing," said Narendra Bhandari, Chairman of the Industry Management Committee. "We had hoped to complete the repairs by Tihar and resume production immediately afterwards, but the work remains unfinished." He added that while it will take a few more days to complete the repairs, preparations are in full swing to restart production in mid-December Cement production has been on hold since October 1.

The delays were partly due to the need to bring in specialized workers from India for equipment repairs. Despite this, Chairman Bhandari assured us that the repair work is progressing rapidly and is nearing completion. "We have no shortage of raw materials," he stated. "The industry currently has a stock of approximately 400 metric tons of coal, and additional coal procurement is already underway to ensure smooth operations."

The industry faced a two-month shutdown earlier this year due to financial constraints. After resuming operations in the third week of August, it produced 65,000 bags of cement before halting production again.

Established in 1976 (2033 BS) in Lamsure, the Hetauda Cement Industry began cement production in 1987 (2043 BS). It remains one of Nepal's key cement producers, poised to return to operation with enhanced preparedness.
