NPL: Chitwan Rhinos beats Kathmandu Gurkhas

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2: Chitwan Rhinos defeated Kathmandu Gurkhas by five wickets in the second game of the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL) held at the TU Cricket Ground today.

Chitwan Rhinos chased down the target of 112 runs in 17.1 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Santosh Karki was the top scorer for Chitwan Rhinos, making 28 runs from 31 balls, including two fours and one six.

Other notable contributions came from Luc Benkenstein (22 runs), Hassan Eisakhil (12 runs), captain Kushal Malla (11 runs), Ravi Bopara (11 runs), and Sharad Veswakar, who remained unbeaten on 11 runs.

In the bowling department, Shahab Alam took three wickets, while Gerhard Erasmus and Dan Douthwaite each claimed one wicket for Kathmandu Gurkhas.

Earlier, Kathmandu Gurkhas, who were put in to bat after losing the toss, scored 111 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sumit Maharjan was the top scorer for Kathmandu with 29 runs, hitting one four in 41 balls.

Other contributors for Kathmandu were Michael Levit (25 runs, including four fours and one six in 16 balls), Dan Douthwaite (unbeaten 19 runs), and Shankar Rana (16 runs).

For Chitwan Rhinos, Sohail Tanveer was the standout bowler, taking five wickets for just 21 runs in four overs. Rijan Dhakal, Amar Singh Rautela, Kushal Malla, and Luc Benkenstein each took one wicket.
