Weather: Partly cloudy in Kathmandu Valley and fair in rest of country

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 29: The Westerly wind is currently influencing the country's weather, resulting in partly to generally cloudy conditions in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, dense fog has formed in many parts of the Tarai region. Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane reported that the Kathmandu Valley is expected to remain partly cloudy until the afternoon. This morning, the Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature forecast to range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius.

In the afternoon, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, while the rest of the country will experience fair conditions. There is a possibility of intermittent light rain in one or two locations within the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, light snowfall is expected in isolated spots in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather will continue to be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, with fair conditions elsewhere. There is a chance of light snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Over the next 24 hours, the Department forecasts scattered light rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with light snowfall in a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Furthermore, the Department has warned that fog is likely to persist across many parts of the Tarai on Thursday morning, potentially disrupting daily life, agriculture, health, transportation, and aviation. It has urged the public to remain cautious.
