Action-plan for reforms in health insurance presented to PM Oli

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 29: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, presented an action plan to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today, aimed at reforming the government’s health insurance scheme. The action plan, along with a report, was prepared under the leadership of Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, according to the Minister’s Secretariat.
The Council of Ministers will make a decision on the proposed health insurance reforms based on the action plans, the Secretariat added. The Ministry is also working on increasing insurance coverage to Rs 500,000.
The report presented to PM Oli outlines the basis for expanding insurance coverage up to Rs 500,000. The Ministry plans to propose an amendment to the Health Insurance Act in the upcoming winter session of Parliament, provided the Cabinet endorses the proposal.
