CG pulls plug on Wai Wai factory in Bhaisepati

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19: The Chaudhary Group (CG), led by Binod Chaudhary, has shut down its Wai Wai noodles factory in Kathmandu Valley. CG Foods Pvt. Ltd. announced the closure of its old factory located in Bhaisepati.
Following a fine imposed by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City last year due to quality-related issues, Wai Wai’s sales saw a significant decline. Despite the large consumer base in the valley, the company stated in its press release that it was compelled to shut down the factory.
The Chaudhary Group first established the Wai Wai production facility in Bhaisepati in 1984. However, in recent years, the brand image of Wai Wai in Nepal’s domestic market appears to be weakening.
According to the company, the growing development of Bhaisepati as a residential area has directly impacted Wai Wai’s production.
