Bangkong-based Nepali embassy urges foreign job seekers to obtain labour permits

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 25: The Nepali Embassy in Bangkok has urged individuals seeking foreign employment to obtain a labour permit from the government before leaving the country.

The Embassy highlighted that the rescue of Nepalis stranded in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand has been challenging due to their lack of official labour permits. Many individuals engaged in various forms of work in these countries have faced difficulties without proper documentation.

Recently, the Nepali Embassy in Thailand facilitated the rescue of several Nepalis who had been coerced into online scamming. They were repatriated to Nepal on Monday after being freed from Myawaddy, a town in southeastern Myanmar.

The Embassy has further advised all aspiring migrant workers to avoid being misled by promises of high salaries and instead ensure they possess verified documentation, including a valid work permit, before travelling abroad.
