Work begins on alternative route for Muglin-Narayangadh Section
DAMAULI (TANAHU), FEBRUARY 27: The track opening for an alternative road along the Muglin-Narayangadh section has officially begun. The new route—Muglin-Gaighat-Dasdhunga-Thimura-Gaindakot Road—is being developed as an alternative passage to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity.
In this regard, the Department of Roads (DoR) has allocated Rs 26.93 million for the project in the current fiscal year. Work is currently underway to open the track from Pulzeep in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4, Tanahun district.
The DoR has awarded the contract for the first phase of the road, which will connect Muglin with Gaindakot of Nawalpur via Gaighat, Dasdhunga, Thimura, and Devpur of Devghat.
Local support and expectations
Keshav Chandra Neupane, a local of Devghat, stated that the government has finally addressed the long-standing demand for an alternative route in the region.
Previously, locals had urged authorities to build an alternative road connecting Dasdhunga via British Camp of Gaindakot Municipality-3 and Devpur of Devghat Rural Municipality-5, Nawalpur. Also, they had called for a direct alternative route from Dasdhunga to Muglin, running along the banks of the Trishuli River in Tanahun.
Potential for religious tourism
Til Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of Devghat Rural Municipality, emphasized the importance of this road for local development. He highlighted that Devghat is currently not connected to the national highway, but once the Gaindakot-Dasdhunga road via Devghat is completed, it could significantly boost religious tourism in the area.
