Over two-fold rise in exports via Birgung customs
Goods worth Rs 40.35 billion exported from the checkpoint

BIRGUNJ (PARSA), FEBRUARY 27: Goods worth Rs 40.35 billion have been exported through the Birgunj Customs Point in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2024/25 , marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year. The export volume has more than doubled compared to the Rs 17.08 billion of goods exported during the same period last fiscal year.
Among the 28 customs points in Nepal, Birgunj holds a substantial share, accounting for 31.72% of the total exports from the country.
Amit Tiwari, Information Officer at Birgunj Customs Office, highlighted the notable increase in exports of refined sunflower and soybean oil during the review period. "The exports have been rising encouragingly so far this fiscal year," he stated.
Refined soybean oil was exported via the Birgunj checkpoint for Rs 19.36 billion, while refined sunflower oil reached Rs 4.63 billion. Additionally, fruit juice exports totalled Rs 3.96 billion. Other significant exports included iron and iron products worth Rs 3.1 billion, synthetic yarn worth Rs 1.6 billion, various types of clothes worth Rs 1.47 billion, and raw materials for cattle feed worth Rs 1.22 billion.
