Pokhara-Chengdu commercial chartered flights from tomorrow
KATHMANDU, MARCH 17: Regular commercial charter flights will operate between Chengdu, China, and Pokhara International Airport in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
For the first time, Sichuan Airlines is set to launch these flights from tomorrow. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) believes this initiative will significantly enhance tourism promotion and cultural exchange by establishing a direct regional air link between Nepal and China.
NTB issued a press release yesterday stating, "The Pokhara-Chengdu air service will facilitate travel for residents of mid- and western Nepal while providing Chinese tourists with easier access to the scenic city of Pokhara."
The statement further emphasized, "This air connectivity will play a vital role in boosting international tourist arrivals in Nepal, supporting both the 'Visit Nepal 2025' campaign declared by the Chinese government and Nepal's 'Pokhara Tourism Year' initiative."
A Nepali delegation is scheduled to participate in the Pokhara-Chengdu Flight Promotion and China (Sichuan) Sales Mission 2025 via a commercial charter flight from Chengdu to Pokhara. The delegation will engage in meetings with representatives from various government and private sectors across multiple Chinese cities, including Chengdu.
According to NTB, this initiative will further establish Nepal as a global tourism destination while strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
