Nepal's eye health care service luring patients from India, Bangladesh and Bhutan
KATHMANDU, MARCH 26: Citizens of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and other countries visit Nepal for eye care and treatment. Foreign patients have sought services at 28 eye hospitals and 224 eye treatment centres operated by the Nepal Netrajyoti Association.
According to the Association’s Executive Director, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, 907,071 foreign nationals underwent eye tests in 2024, while 162,845 received surgical treatment. In the same year, 3,268,034 individuals benefited from eye test services, and 258,575 underwent surgery.
Additionally, 34,425 patients received free eye surgeries through the Association’s hospitals and various external programs.
The Association has provided treatment to 46,868,060 individuals—Nepalis and foreign nationals—through its network, with 5,392,224 patients having undergone eye surgeries.
