KMC plans for free-of-charge use of public lavatories
KATHMANDU, MAY 31: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a notice regarding the operation of public toilets in the city free of cost. “We appeal to the related operators to make arrangements for not charging any individuals for using public toilets being operated inside the metropolis area,” reads the notice.
According to the metropolis, it is looking to provide the human resources, materials and other technical facilities for the lavatories made for public use so that they can offer free-of-cost service. In this context, the KMC urged the related operators to apply for such facilities within 15 days of the publication of this notice in the Public-Private Partnership Unit of the KMC.
“The date for the operation of public toilets without charging any cost will be set after completing the necessary procedures. And, if any related operators are found to be making any user of such toilets pay after the set date, they will face action as per the prevalent law,” the notice warns.
