NADA opposes customs duty increase in EVs
KATHMANDU, MAY 30: The National Automobile Dealers’ Association of Nepal (NADA) has expressed its reservation the announcement of the government to increase customs duty on electric vehicles (EVs).
While presenting the budget for the next fiscal year on May 28, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun raised the customs duties on EVs from 5 to 20 percent depending upon their battery capacity. Similarly, a 5 percent road tax was impised on them.
Issuing a press statement yesterday, the NADA said,”The raise in the customs duty on EVS is outright irrational. Similarly, the association criticized the government for disregardig its repeated plea to adequately increase the number of charging stations across the country.
