Imports, exports both go down
KATHMANDU, MARCH 19:The export volume of the country has gone down by 3.99 percent to Rs 161 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal. During the same period last year, such volume was recorded at Rs 104 billion.
From mid-July to mid-March of 2023/24, the import volume also went down by 2.66 percent. During the review period this year, the country bought goods/ services worth Rs 1.30 trillion while its import volume from mid-July to mid-March 2022/23 amounted to Rs 1.58 trillion.
With a downturn in both imports and exports, the trade deficit also plummeted by 2.52 percent. During the review period this year, such a deficit stood at Rs 929 billion while the same was recorded at Rs 953 billion during the corresponding period last year.
From mid-July to mid-March of 2023/24, the external trade worth Rs 1.130 trillion was carried out by the country. During the same period last year, the monetary value of this kind of trade had been recorded at Rs Rs 1.163 billion.
