PM directs to implement recommendations of Commission to control gold smuggling

KATHMANDU, MARCH 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, to implement the recommendations submitted by the High-Level Probe Commission formed to investigate the recent cases of gold smuggling.
Receiving the report from the Deputy Prime Minister today, the PM instructed to ensure the implementation of the recommendations made by the commission without being affected by one’s pressure. According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Secretariat, PM Prachanda has also asked to create an environment conducive not to exempt the culprits and not the innocent ones.
Likewise, the PM has asked to advance the reform measures as pointed out by the Commission’s report. Following the PM’s instructions, the DPM has begun internal consultations for further steps regarding the implementation of the report, the DPM’s Secretariat confirmed. The Commission submitted its report to DPM and Home Minister Lamichhane on Thursday.
The government on October 1, 2023, had formed the Commission led by former High Court Judge Dilliraj Acharya and Kishor Jung Karki, Prem Raj Joshi and former Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sahakul Thapa as the members of the Commission.
