Solidarity for One-China Principle: NCMF Reaffirms Commitment Amidst Concerns Over Taiwan Election
KATHMANDU JANUARY 14. In a significant move, Nepal-China Media Forum (NCMF) has officially endorsed the One-China Principle, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to the belief that there is only one sovereign state called China. The announcement comes amidst growing concerns in Nepal over the recent elections in the Taiwan region, a move that has triggered apprehension among Nepalese citizens, media outlets, and individuals dedicated to fostering bilateral relationships between Nepal and China.
Kishor Shrestha, Chairman of the Nepal-China Media Forum, delivered a statement underlining Nepal’s unwavering support for the One-China Principle. He expressed concerns over what he referred to as the “so-called election” in Taiwan, emphasizing that Nepal considers the Taiwan question as China’s internal affair. The statement strongly iterated Nepal’s recognition of only one China in the world and affirmed support for the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate authority representing the entirety of China.
According to Shrestha, Taiwan is viewed as an inalienable part of China’s territory by Nepal, and any move towards “Taiwan independence” is vehemently opposed. The chairman reiterated Nepal’s commitment to stand firmly in support of China’s complete reunification and expressed optimism for China’s continued prosperity.
This declaration from Nepal signifies a robust stance aligning with the official policies of the People’s Republic of China. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining unity on international matters, particularly those concerning territorial integrity and national sovereignty. The statement by the Nepal China Media Forum serves as a diplomatic signal, reinforcing Nepal’s commitment to fostering positive relations with China while maintaining a clear position on the sensitive Taiwan issue.
As the geopolitical landscape continues to evolve, the solidarity displayed by Nepal for the One-China Principle reflects the country’s dedication to preserving its diplomatic ties and ensuring the harmony of relationships in the region. The impact of Nepal’s endorsement on regional dynamics remains to be seen, but it is undoubtedly a move that will resonate in diplomatic circles and shape the nation’s future engagements with global partners.
