“Chitwan Visit Year” to be launched from Narayani bank
CHITWA, DECEMBER 17: The Bharatpur Metropolitan City is to welcome the English New Year 2024 as the “Chitwan Visit Year” for tourism promotion. Preparations started a year back to celebrate the Visit Year have reached the final stage.
The Chitwan Visit Year is going to be announced in the presence of a large number of people on the bank of the Narayani River on January 1. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to inaugurate the Visit Year amidst a program, said tourism advisor to Bharatpur metropolis, Dr. Bishwo Subedi. According to him, different personalities from federal, province and local levels would be present during the event. Subedi shared that preparation has been made to present around 50,000 locals on the announcement day of Visit Year.
A promotion committee has been formed under the coordination of the ward chairperson for the publicity at ward level. Local artists would present cultural performances on the Narayani River bank before the announcement of the Visit Year, while the national artists perform in the evening. Seven main tourist destinations have been ascertained inside the Bharatpur metropolis. Publicity of the other 21 destinations has also been made.
A 2,024-member main celebration committee was formed under the coordination of Mayor Renu Dahal, a 19-member work execution committee under the coordination of Deputy-Mayor Chitra Sen Adhikari, 101 advisory committees and 29 sub-committees. More than Rs 60 million is going to be spent from the government level for the same. The Bharatpur metropolis has allocated Rs 30 million. Bagmati Province government has expressed commitment to provide Rs 20 million while the Tourism Board has already allocated seven million rupees, added Adhikari. —-
