LEKHNATH(KASKI), NOVEMBER 27: The Pokhara Street Festival, an annual event organized at Lakeside in Pokhara to celebrate the English New Year, is marking its silver jubilee this year. The festival is orchestrated by the Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) in Pokhara, serving as a vibrant welcome to the English New Year.
Bishwo Raj Poudel, Acting Chairperson of REBAN Pokhara, highlighted the preparations made for the festival’s silver jubilee, emphasizing its role in promoting tourism in Pokhara. The festival is planned to cover a three-kilometer stretch in Lakeside, aiming to position Pokhara as the preferred destination for both domestic and international tourists during the English New Year.
Poudel, the festival coordinator, mentioned the special arrangements and attractions planned for this year’s street festival in honor of its silver jubilee. Under the overarching theme ‘Eat in the streets, Enjoy in the streets,’ the festival is expected to draw around 500,000 visitors, including both domestic and foreign tourists. The event, scheduled from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024, will feature a diverse array of activities, including cultural programs, an exhibition of national and international foods, displays of costumes from different communities, a boat race, volleyball competition, concerts, and interactive sessions discussing “Pokhara’s tourism development, promotion, opportunities, and challenges.”
