Ncell deepens 4G connecting remote districts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province

Kathmandu, September 11. District headquarters of Mugu, Dolpa, Humla, and Bajura have now been linked with Ncell’s high-speed mobile broadband connectivity. Ncell Axiata Limited, as part of its expansion drive, launched the 4G service, connecting locals with opportunities that digital connectivity and technology bring.

In a bid to launch the 4G in these locations, Ncell efficiently installed four 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) one each in Thuli Bheri Municipality (Dolpa), Chhayanath Rara Municipality (Mugu), Badimalika Municipality (Bajura) and Simikot Rural Municipality (Humla) last month, revoking the basic mobile service through V-SAT technology.

Jabbor Kayumov, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Ncell said, “We are delighted to empower our customers with new technology. It is a milestone because, with this, we have connected all districts of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province, contributing to the Digital Nepal vision of the government and building of digital inclusive communities.”

Ncell has kept 4G expansion and capacity enhancement in high priority and plans to extend 4G in Manang district soon. 4G technology empowers users to take benefit from various digital services, including streaming of high-definition video content, Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) calls, fast downloads and uploads, sharing of large files in real-time and time-sensitive data immediately.

Ncell has installed over 4,100 4G BTS sites across the country. Ncell is also continuously enhancing the capacity of the 4G network to contribute to achieving the aspirations of the Digital Nepal Framework of the government by increasing access to mobile broadband service.

In the last fiscal year 2022/23, Ncell installed 338 new sites in different parts of the country. Similarly, it upgraded 4G capacity in nearly 1,450 towers from over 60 districts. As part of its commitment to deliver world-class services and customer experience through the introduction of modern technology, Ncell had launched 4G in the Kathmandu Valley in 2017.
