Manakamana cable car halting operation after two days

Muglin, March 19 . The Manakamana cable car, the cable way used for visiting Manakamana Temple, is halting service after two days as preparedness to the coronavirus spread. The Manakamana Darshan Pvt took this decision on Thursday.
Company director general DN Kayastha shared that the cable car service would be halted from Saturday in order to assist government’s decision to avoid congregation in view of the COVID-19 menace. The service would resume in the end of Chait. For some days, the number of devotees has also declined heavily.
The cable way provides service to 3,500 person everyday to reach the Manakamana Temple of Gorkha district from Ichchhamanakamana-4 of neighbouring Chitwan district.
Help Desk Set up
Meanwhile, Ichchhamanakamana rural municipality has set up health desk at two places to raise public awareness on covid-19.
The health desks are at Kurintar and bottom station of the Manakamana Cable Car. A health worker is available at each help desk, said health coordinator at rural municipality, Basudev Sapkota.
Even the pamphlets with public information issued by the Health Ministry are distributed by the health desks.
Sapkota further said anyone suspected of the COVID-19 would be suggested to visit nearby health facility for test.
