Airlifted to Kathmandu in wee hours, protesting Dr KC under medical care at TU Hospital
Bhadrapur, Jhapa, Jan 18 . Protesting Dr Gobinda KC has been airlifted to Kathmandu in the wee hours today following his deteriorating health. Dr KC had been on a fast-onto-death since 10 days in Ilam demanding the passage of the National Medical Education Bill in line with the agreement the government had reached with him. Dr KC, who was taken to Kathmandu on Nepal Army’s MI-17 night vision helicopter at around 2 am, is currently undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, said Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal.
Likewise, efforts are underway to airlift Bijaya Thapa, who is also on a fast-onto-death for the past eight days in Ilam, demanding endorsement of the Bill as it is, to Kathmandu following his deteriorating health, said CDO Dahal. Thapa who is currently under the care of doctors at Bhadrapur-based Mechi Zonal Hospital, will be taken to Kathmandu on a helicopter at 10 am today. He will be admitted to the Teaching Hospital, said Pushpa Bhandari close to Thapa.
