MoU between Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Korean company
Chitwan, Sept 13 . The Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) and a South Korean waste management company here today have signed a MoU for the effective wastage management in the BMC.
BMC Mayor Renu Dahal and Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation President Siyo Joo Won signed the MoU towards this end.
The Corporation would be doing research of the BMC’s state of wastages management system as well as the landfills here and would prepare a detailed report.
The research will be focused on the studying the types of wastages and management of wastages in accordance to the seasons among others. The research is estimated to cost around Rs 70 million and it will be borne by the South Korean Company, according to the BMC.
On the occasion, Mayor Dahal said that the research on wastages will be done in Chitwan as well as its neighbouring districts.
Corporation President Won shared that his Corporation has been managing wastages of various countries generated by more than 20.5 million populations.
He expressed his confidence that the South Korean government would support the wastage management bid of BMC. Meetings between these two sides on the same were held earlier in January and May this year.
More than 65 tonnes of wastages from its total 29 wards are collected from BMC on a daily basis. The private sectors have been managing the wastages in BMC ward o 1 to 5 and 7 to 12 while the BMC manages wastages in rest other wards.
