100 Years Of Indian Cinema Celebrations begins
India, Sept 22 – South Indian film industry is celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema – starting from Saturday. Top actors and technicians from the four southern states will participate in a grand four-day commemorative event being organised by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) in Chennai.
In the celbrations Leading stars of Bollywood, including Amitabh Bhachchan, will be among the guests. Tamil Nadu chief minister will inaugurate the event at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium this evening. Tamil film stars, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, kicked off the series of entertainment events on Saturday.
The Malayalam film industry will perform on 23 Septmeber, while Kannada and Telugu stars will organise their shows on 22 September. In the run up to the event, music shows, screening of old films and exhibitions are being held in various parts of the city. The Tamil Nadu government has granted Rs 10 crore to the SIFCC. President Pranab Mukherjee and the chief ministers of the four southern states will participate in the grand finale on 24 September.
