Maldhunga-Beni road to close for 13 days

PARBAT, JUNE 21: The Maldhunga-Beni road has been closed to vehicular traffic for 13 days to facilitate black-topping work. This road section is part of the Kaligandaki Corridor Highway, a national pride project that links the northern border with the southern border.
At present, only the five-kilometer Maldhunga-Pharse road section is being black-topped, out of the 13-kilometer Maldhunga-Beni road, according to the Kaligandaki Corridor Maldhunga-Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project Office. Seven kilometers of the road section will remain to be asphalted once the Maldhunga-Pharse section is black-topped in the first phase.
An all-party meeting held at the District Administration Office decided to close the road to traffic, except for essential service vehicles, including ambulances, for 13 days, starting from tomorrow, June 22. Drivers have been urged to use alternative roads.
The Office said the black-topping work would be concluded in 13 days, weather permitting.
