Prime Minister directs for 70 per cent technical stream in education
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 9: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to develop a solid action plan to ensure the implementation of life skills and quality education.
During a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers yesterday, he issued directives on concrete actions that can be taken within the next 100 days in the field of education. He emphasized that the share of the technical stream in education should be 70 percent.
Calling attention to the need for producing skilled human resources, the Prime Minister stated that education is crucial for creating the workforce required to build the nation. He highlighted the need to increase school enrollment rates, reduce dropout rates, and enhance the quality of education, instructing education authorities to ensure that at least 70 percent of students pass next year's SEE examination.
He stressed the importance of the optimal use of science and technology and instructed the development of a concrete program to enhance their application in education, agriculture, and industry. "Develop a concrete program to increase the use of science and technology in these fields," he said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Bishnu Paudel, Minister of Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai, and Chief Secretary Liladevi Gadtaula, among others, were present at the meeting.
