"MG has pioneered the trust of Nepali consumers in EVs"

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 29: “It is MG that pioneered the trust of Nepali consumers in Electric Vehicles, especially four-wheelers in the passenger category,” claims Anup K. Baral, Managing Director of Narayani Auto Business.

The automotive brand was launched in the country about five years ago when the EV market was still in its nascent stage. At that time, it wasn’t surprising that general consumers lacked confidence in electricity-based automobiles. However, the arrival of MG seemed to have helped change that scenario.

"The automotive brand successfully delivered everything potential EV customers required and aspired to. They found MG to be simply perfect in all crucial parameters like design, performance, safety, affordability, and, of course, after-sales service," Baral justifies, adding, "Because of this, we have been able to carve out a strong niche for ourselves in the automobile industry.”

Currently, there are some  800 units of MG on the Nepali roads. With around 15 per cent share in the passenger segment's electric four-wheeler market, it is said to be the third biggest player.

Around eight variants of the brand are now available in the market. Among them, three belong to the MG ZS, two to the MG 4, two to the MG Comet, and one to the MG Cyberstar models.

All of them are being displayed at the NADA Auto Show which started on August 17 and will run until September 1. Notably, the MG Cyberstar was unveiled on this event's first day.

It is an all-new electric sports car, a futuristic, zero-emission successor to the classic MG roadsters of the past. Equipped with a 77kWh battery, the Cyberstar promises a range of 580 km.

The two-seater also produces a maximum power of 400 kilowatts and 725 Nm of torque.

As for the exterior, it features LED Headlights with Automatic On-Off, Electric Folding Door Mirrors with Side Turning Lamp, and a Soft Top Convertible (Automatic Opening). Similarly, the interior is defined by features like a 6-Way Adjustable Front Passenger Seat with Memory, a 7 + 10.25 + 7-inch Interactive Multi-function Digital Display, Dual Power Scissor Doors with Jam Protection, V2L (Vehicle To Load), and i-Smart technology, among others.

Its safety system is enhanced by a Full Space Frame, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Autonomous Emergency Brake System (AEB), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, etc.

As for entertainment, the Cyberstar possesses a Multi-function Steering Wheel with Audio and Bluetooth Phone Control, a Bose Sound System, Bluetooth and USB Port, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

In the Nepali market, it is priced at Rs 16.8 million, the most expensive four-wheeler being showcased at the show.
