Contruction of Tanahu hydropower resumes after 51-day halt

TANAHU, SEPTEMBER 9: The construction of "Package One" of the 140 MW Tanahu Hydropower Project, located in Jhaphutar, Rishing Rural Municipality-1, has resumed after 51 days of suspension due to a payment dispute.

The work of Songda Kalika, a joint venture construction company, resumed after the concerned authorities assured that payment would be made through the European Bank, according to project chief Shyamji Bhandari. So far, only 35 per cent progress has been made in this package.

On July) 6,  the Seti River flood caused damage to the construction site of Package One. It destroyed the crusher and cooling plant and swept away construction materials such as stone and gravel that were kept on site.

Under the said package, two diversion tunnels have been completed to divert the flow of the Seti River for the construction of the 140-meter-high dam. For the dam's construction, further excavation of the mountain remains and , and gallery tunnels are currently being constructed on both banks of the Seti River.
