Govt spending 7.5 per cent in two months of current fiscal

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 17 : In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, the government's expenditure stands at approximately 7.5% of the total budget. According to the Office of the Auditor General, by September 16, the government had utilized 7.39% of the total budget, amounting to NPR 137.5 billion.

The budget for the current fiscal year is NPR 1,860.303 billion. Of this, capital expenditures account for NPR 82.986 billion, which is 7.28% of the total capital allocation of NPR 1,140.660 billion. By mid-September, capital expenditures reached NPR 14.894 billion, or 4.23% of the allocated NPR 352.350 billion.

For financial management, the total allocation is NPR 367.285 billion, with expenditures amounting to NPR 39.672 billion, representing 10.8% of the allocation.

Revenue collections for the period amount to 11.52% of the annual target. The government aims to collect NPR 1,471.630 billion, and by September 16, NPR 169.518 billion had been collected.

Of the revenue collected, 11.31% of the annual target has come from tax revenue, totalling NPR 145.019 billion, against an annual target of NPR 1,284.209 billion. Non-tax revenue has achieved 15.69% of its target, with collections totalling NPR 21.194 billion against an annual target of NPR 135.093 billion.

The government aims to secure NPR 52.327 billion in foreign grants this fiscal year, but no amount has been collected so far.
