KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 22: Leaders from various political parties have called for the prosecution of those involved in cooperative fraud cases. Speaking at an interaction program yesterday, they emphasized that anyone implicated in the embezzlement of cooperative assets by the parliamentary special investigation committee must be held accountable according to the law.
Nepali Congress leader and former minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan specifically mentioned Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane, stating that he should be penalized in line with the committee's findings. Pradhan dismissed the defense put forth by Lamichhane and his supporters, affirming that the probe committee's report had clarified many issues.
Additionally, Pradhan urged Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung to immediately resign from his party position and parliamentary seat in order to fully cooperate with the government's investigation into cooperative fraud cases.
CPN-UML leader and former minister Sher Bahadur Tamang also addressed the gathering, cautioning that certain individuals are still attempting to manipulate the issue despite the release of the parliamentary committee's report on cooperative scams. "We must stay vigilant," he warned.
Meanwhile, CPN-Maoist Centre leader and Member of Parliament Lekhnath Dahal noted that RSP President Lamichhane's involvement in the fraud cases had not yet been definitively established.
