Capital market goes down by 59 points

Sub-indices of all groups close in the red

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 23 : The NEPSE index has today dropped by 59 points, settling at 2529 points. This is because of a decline in the sub-indices of all groups in the stock market.

The total trading volume for the day reached NPR 5.66 billion, an increase compared to the previous day's NPR 5.09 billion.

Although the market showed an upward trend during the pre-open session, it steadily declined once regular trading began. The prices of 14 companies increased, while 229 companies saw a decline, and one company's price remained unchanged.

All group sub-indices closed in the red: banking dropped by 1.27%, development banks by 2.46%, finance by 5.56%, hotels and tourism by 3.34%, hydropower by 2.89%, investment by 2.73%, life insurance by 2.35%, manufacturing by 1.81%, microfinance by 2.56%, non-life insurance by 2.69%, others by 2.22%, and the trade sector by 3.93%.

The price of Himalayan Hydropower surged by 9.8%, while Excel Development Bank rose by 8.1%, Rawa Energy by 5.3%, Nepal Finance by 5.1%, and Matribhumi Microfinance by 5%. On the other hand, Goodwill Finance, Samriddhi Finance, and Eastern Hydropower saw a 10% drop. Progressive Finance decreased by 8.5%, Reliance Finance by 8.4%, and Guheshwori Merchant Finance by 8.3%.
