Three prime disaster-obstructed roads reopen

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 30 : Among the roads obstructed by heavy rainfall and landslides, three major routes connecting Hetauda-Kathmandu in Makawanpur and Hetauda-Dharan-Chatara have resumed operation. According to the District Police Office, traffic has reopened on the Hetauda-Bhaise, Simbhanjyang-Palung-Naubise, and Hetauda-Sindhuli-Dharan-Chatara roads along the Madan Bhandari Highway as of this morning.

Similarly, the Hetauda-Bhaise-Chitlang-Chandragiri-Kathmandu road along the Tribhuvan Highway has been partially reopened since Sunday evening. Acting spokesperson at the District Police Office, Police Inspector Thakur Prasad Sapkota, reported that road traffic has been restored after clearing the landslide debris.

However, the road remains completely blocked in several areas, including Thaha Municipality-5, Daman in Makawanpur, Ghattepakha of Bakaiya Rural Municipality-12, and the Lamrang and Ampachaur sections of Ward No. 11.

According to Police Inspector Sapkota, the Kulekhani-Fakhel-Farping road in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-3 is fully obstructed due to a landslide at Ram Chandra Bhanjyang along the Dakshinkali-Chhaimle-Sisneri road. Additionally, the Thankot-Kulekhani road section is completely blocked by a landslide at Simlang of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-1, impacting the Kulekhani-Markhu inner road.

The road connecting Hetauda-Kulekhani has also been severely affected by landslides at Ratomate of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-4 and Dhokaphedi of Bhimphedi-6. Efforts are underway to clear debris and reopen other blocked roads, Inspector Sapkota added.
