Nepal, Vietnam ink deal to promote trade and investment

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 6: Nepal and Vietnam have reached an agreement to enhance cooperation in trade and investment promotion. The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the Vietnam-Nepal Friendship Association have committed to boosting bilateral investment and facilitating trade. A statement from the NCC highlighted discussions with Vietnamese officials on increasing collaboration in key sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and trade.
Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal, President of the NCC, urged the promotion of Lumbini—Buddha’s birthplace—as a travel destination for Vietnamese tourists. He stressed the importance of facilitating visits for the significant Buddhist population in Vietnam, affirming that the Chamber is prepared to assist in promoting tourism.
Agarwal also encouraged Vietnamese representatives to invest in the agriculture, tourism, and industrial sectors. He remarked, "Nepal is an excellent destination for investment, and we are committed to ensuring a favourable return on investment."
He expressed a desire to collaborate with Vietnam to support agricultural development, enhance food security, and promote economic growth.
During a meeting with Chamber officials, Tran Anh Tuan, President of the Vietnam-Nepal Friendship Association, expressed his admiration for Nepal's natural beauty and emphasized their readiness to explore investment opportunities in collaboration with Nepal.
