NEPSE down by over 27 points

Finance company sub-index recorded the largest decline at 2.76 percent

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 8 : The stock market today experienced a double-digit decline. Following a two-day increase on Sunday and Monday, the NEPSE index fell by 27.39 points (1.01 percent), closing at 2,663.32 points. In addition to the market index, trading volume also decreased. After recording a trading volume of Rs 7 billion on Monday, it dropped to Rs 4.5 billion on Tuesday. A total of 45,870 transactions took place, trading 1,033,502 shares of listed securities, resulting in a turnover of Rs 4 billion 593 million 727 thousand.

On Tuesday, all sub-indices, except for mutual funds, experienced a decline, contributing to the drop in the NEPSE. The finance company sub-index recorded the largest decline at 2.76 percent, while the hotel and tourism sub-index fell by 1.93 percent. The banking sub-index also decreased by 0.36 percent. Notably, with a total trading volume exceeding Rs 4.5 billion, NLG Insurance recorded a turnover of Rs 271.8 million, while Nepal Finance had a trading volume of Rs 239.7 million and Himalayan Re-Insurance recorded a turnover of Rs 137.7 million.

A total of 244 listed securities were traded on Tuesday, with 207 companies experiencing a decline in share prices.

Conversely, the share prices of 35 companies increased, while 2 companies remained stable. Among Tuesday's trades, the share price of Mid Solu Hydropower rose by 10 percent, closing at a positive circuit price. Additionally, the share prices of Butwal Power Company and Mandu Hydropower increased by 6.83 percent and 6.31 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, Eastern Hydropower's share price decreased by 8.50 percent, while Buddhabhumi Hydropower fell by 7.24 percent. Nepal Finance dropped by 6.98 percent, Bottlers Nepal Terai by 5.88 percent, and Kalinchowk Darshan by 5.5 percent.
