Five highway sections still blocked due to floods and lndslides

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9 : Recent rain-induced floods and landslides have left five sections of different highways still completely obstructed, while efforts are ongoing to restore traffic. According to sources from the Nepal Police, more than four dozen road sections that were initially blocked have now been reopened, and eight others have been partially cleared for one-way traffic.

Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki, the central spokesperson for Nepal Police, stated that the Charshayabesi section of the BP Highway at Roshi in Kavrepalanchowk has remained fully closed since September 27. Other blocked sections include the Bhakure stretch of the BP Highway, Seleghat of Manthali Municipality-6 in Ramechhap, the Ramechhap-Sindhuli-Khurkot section, the Barhabise-Tatopani road in Bhotekoshi, and the Baluwatar segment of the Jaya Prithvi Highway in Bajhang.

Meanwhile, several sections have been opened for one-way traffic, including Lele-Tikabhairab in Godavari, Tinghare on the Mid-Hill Highway in Terhathum, Ramite on the Mechi Highway in Phidim, and Kanti Lokthap in Bhimphedi.

Additionally, the Kaldhunga section of the BP Highway at Roshi, the Ghumaune and Hanumangadhi Keraghari sections, and the Benighat-Krishnabhir segment of the Prithvi Highway have been restored for one-way movement.

So far, 246 people have lost their lives in the recent disasters, with 18 individuals still missing.
