One more year to complete the western section of Pokhara-Muglin road

GANDAKI, NOVEMBER 24 : The western section (Pokhara-Jamune) of the Pokhara-Muglin road project under the Prithvi Highway has achieved only 32% physical progress to date. The current 101-day contract extension is set to expire on December 5.

Project engineer Soujan Nepal stated that the process of extending the deadline is underway after the Chinese construction company requested a one-year extension. Construction work on the sections in Kaski and Tanahun began in Bhadra 2078 BS.

The initial three-year contract period has already been extended twice after expiring last Bhadra. However, recent rapid progress suggests that the work may be completed within the next year, according to Engineer Nepal.

So far, 22 kilometers of one-way road on the four-lane stretch have been blacktopped in the western section, including areas like Tharpu in Tanahun and Gagangauda in Kaski. Additionally, nine out of 12 road bridges in the 38.88-kilometer western section are in their final stages of construction, the project office reported.

The 81-kilometer Pokhara-Muglin road expansion and upgrading work is being carried out with grant assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
