Nepal, China sign various bilateral agreements
BEIJING (CHINA), DECEMBER 3: Nepal and China have signed several bilateral agreements in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. PM Oli is currently on a four-day official visit to China, which began on Monday.
The agreements were signed following a bilateral meeting between the two leaders. Among the key documents signed and exchanged are an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, a letter of exchange on the Tokha-Chhahare Tunnel, a memorandum of understanding on trade promotion cooperation, and a protocol outlining requirements for thermally processed buffalo meat products to be exported from Nepal to China. Other agreements include an MoU on the development plan for 2024–2029 and a letter of exchange on cash assistance.
Additional instruments signed include the handover certificate for the completion of the reconstruction of the Nine-Storey Basantapur Tower, an MoU on volunteer Chinese language teachers, and an MoU between Nepal Television (Public Service Broadcasting) and China Media Group.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Krishna Prasad Dhakal highlighted that the discussions between the two sides focused on expanding connectivity, industrial and infrastructure development, cooperation in health, agriculture, trade, tourism, investment, science and technology, sports, disaster management, and people-to-people relations. They also emphasized strengthening mutual efforts in poverty alleviation.
