Birgunj customs office fails to meet target in revenue collection

BIRGUNJ, DECEMBER 6: The Birgunj Customs Office collected Rs 49.92 billion in revenue during the first four months of the current fiscal year. The target for the period was set at Rs 70.44 billion.
Chief Customs Administrator Dipak Lamichhane stated that achieving the actual revenue target fell short by Rs 20 billion was challenging due to an increased number of public holidays in the months of Asoj and Kartik.
The Office reported that 70% of its revenue is generated from petroleum products, industrial raw materials, and vehicles. Revenue collection by month included Rs 12.16 billion in Shrawan, Rs 13.23 billion in Bhadra, Rs 13.47 billion in Ashwin, and Rs 11.4 billion in Kartik.
For comparison, the Birgunj Customs Office had collected Rs 49.18 billion in revenue during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
