53 films from 23 countries to be screened in Human Rights International Film Festival
The theme of this year’s Festival is 'Social Justice'
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 9: Fifty-three films from 23 countries have been selected for screening at the 12th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival, which began today. The Festival will also feature various side events, including seminars and interactive sessions, to promote advocacy for human rights.
"The theme of this year’s Festival is 'Social Justice'," said Pandav Khatri, President of the Human Rights International Film Centre and Festival Director. "Internationally renowned films are part of this edition. We have consistently organized this Festival to promote and screen films addressing human rights issues," he added.
Highlighted films include All We Imagine as Light, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, The Outrun, and Anaar Daana, all of which have received recognition at prestigious events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival.
Attendees will include film industry professionals from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. The four-day Festival will take place at the Film Development Board’s meeting hall and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) auditorium.
The Human Rights Film Centre, established in 2009, organizes the Festival.
