Finance Committee meeting put off in lack of quorum

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 16: The Finance Committee meeting scheduled for today was postponed due to a lack of quorum.
The meeting convened to discuss proposed amendments to the Secured Transactions (First Amendment) Bill, 2080 BS, was attended by only eight of the 23 members, including Committee President Santosh Chalise. According to the House of Representatives (HoR) Rules, 2079 BS, a quorum requires the presence of at least 51% of the total members.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who was invited to discuss the Bill, was also absent. Committee President Chalise announced that the meeting has been deferred until further notice.
