127 industries being operated in Hetauda Industrial Corridor
MAKWANPUR, DECEMBER 19: As many as 127 industries, including multinational companies, are operating in the Hetauda Industrial Corridor in the district.
Among the major industries established in the corridor are Food Industries Pvt Ltd, United Brewery Pvt Ltd, Nepal Biscuit Company, Nepal Soap Industry, Animal Feed Production and Processing Industry, Nepal Pole Production Pvt Ltd, and Wood Furniture. Other notable companies in operation include Gorkhalari Cigarette Industry Pvt Ltd, Hetauda Milk Distribution Project, Nepal Tea Leaf Industry Pvt Ltd, Nepal Edible Oil Production Industry, Nepal Carton Udyog Pvt Ltd, Nepal Bottlers Udyog Pvt Ltd, and Nepal Wine Production Industries Pvt Ltd.
It has been reported that six older industries, established in the corridor over two decades ago, were shut down due to financial crises and shortages of raw materials. These included Nepal Synthetic Textile Industry, Nepal Leather Industry Pvt Ltd, Nepal Livestock Pvt Ltd, Nepal Vanaspati Ghee, Nepal Polythene Plastic Pvt Ltd, and Nepal Dana Udyog Pvt Ltd.
The Hetauda Textile Industry, owned by the Government of Nepal, has remained closed since 2058 BS.
According to Ramesh Kumar Nepal, a senior official in the industrial sector, 12 new industries, including multinational companies, are currently under development in the corridor. These ventures have accelerated construction efforts with the goal of commencing production within the next two years.
Approximately 15,000 people, directly and indirectly, are employed by the industries currently operating in the corridor.
The Hetauda Industrial Corridor was established 61 years ago in 2020 BS by the then government with financial grants and technical assistance from the US government. At its inception, 3,228 ropanis of land were allocated to the Hetauda Industrial Corridor Management.
