Rs 5.5 million collected from ticket sale for Dharahara climbing in one month

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 25: It has been one month since yesterday when Dharahara reopened to the public with an entry fee following its reconstruction. Over this period, a total of Rs 5.5 million was collected from entry ticket sales. The iconic tower in the heart of the federal capital was reopened on November 24, charging visitors for entry.

According to Acting Project Director Prakash Aryal, Dharahara remains closed every Wednesday, but approximately 1,200 people visit daily on other days. "More than 31,000 people have climbed Dharahara since its reopening, excluding children below 12 years of age, as their records are not maintained," he added.

Visitors can access Dharahara from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The entry fee is set at Rs 200 each for Nepalis, with a 50% discount for students, senior citizens, children, and individuals with disabilities. Tourists from SAARC countries are charged Rs 500 each, while visitors from other countries pay Rs 1,000 each.

A cabinet meeting on November 21 approved the reopening and associated fees. Parking charges are set at Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 for two-wheelers.

Additionally, there is a Rs 50 entry fee for accessing the Dharahara premises. For non-commercial advertisements, the tower charges Rs 5,000 per hour, while videography costs Rs 5,000 and photography Rs 1,000.
