Nepal Police collect over Rs 2.24 billion in revenue
KATHMANDU, JANUARY 6: The Nepal Police have generated over Rs 2.24 billion in revenue from various fines and penalties during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS. This achievement is part of their special action plan to combat illegal activities and enforce the law effectively.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishwa Adhikari, spokesperson for the Nepal Police, stated that the revenue was collected from 10 different categories, including the seizure of illegal goods, traffic violations, unlawful money transfers, and gold and river-based mining activities.
According to SSP Adhikari, Rs 905.7 million, which accounts for 40.42 percent of the total revenue, was collected from the seizure of illegal goods. Traffic fines contributed Rs 520.7 million, while the implementation of court verdicts added Rs 427.4 million to the total.
Similarly, Rs 262.9 million was raised from the recovery of illegal gold and silver, and Rs 43.7 million came from the recovery of illegal currency. In addition, Rs 29 million was collected from undisclosed sources, Rs 12 million from the seizure of illegal timber, and Rs 18.3 million from the control of illegal money transfer and trade. Further revenue included Rs 11.6 million from the illegal livestock control campaign and Rs 9.2 million from illegal river-based mining activities.
The data, covering the period from July to December, underscores the Nepal Police's commitment to curbing illegal activities and ensuring compliance with laws. Their special action plan has significantly contributed to enhancing law enforcement efficiency and bolstering national revenue.
