Breakthrough achieved in Siddhababa Tunnel Way

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli virtually participated in the breakthrough event of the Siddhababa Tunnel Way today. The national pride project, located along the Siddhartha Highway, spans 1.12 kilometers, connecting Butwal to Tansen.

Due to health concerns, PM Oli attended the event remotely from his official residence at Singha Durbar. In his virtual address, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that the tunnel would be a successful project, significantly reducing the loss of lives and property caused by road accidents and landslides in the area. He urged all stakeholders to make the most of the tunnel's benefits.

PM Oli highlighted the earlier breakthrough of the Thankot-Nagdhunga road section along the Prithvi Highway, which has improved road travel to and from the federal capital. Celebrating the achievement, he remarked, "The breakthrough of the main tunnel of Siddhababa Tunnel Way is a moment of pride for the entire country. Nepal’s geography is no longer as inaccessible as it once was."

The Prime Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to fostering development and good governance. While emphasizing Nepal's self-reliance, he also expressed openness to seeking support from external partners to accelerate development projects. "We will build our country," he declared, affirming his government’s focus on projects of national interest.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Prime Ministers Prakash Man Singh and Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Physical Transport and Infrastructure Devendra Dahal, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chet Narayan Acharya, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, among others.

The Siddhababa Tunnel Way is a 1.12-kilometer, double-lane structure with a width of 8.5 meters, including sidewalks, designed to enhance safety and convenience for travelers.
