Tourism Minister promises Welfare Fund for Mountaineers

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 27: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has pledged to establish a welfare fund to support climbers' social security and promote mountaineering.
Speaking at a felicitation program yesterday in Gorkha's Chumnubri Rural Municipality, the minister honored Phunjo Jhangmu Lama for her record-breaking 14-hour-31-minute ascent of Mount Everest. Other mountaineers, including Mingmar Tshering Lama, Nangsel Chhodon Lama, Nanu Maya Gurung, Diki Lhamu Lama, and Yukta Gurung, were also recognized for their achievements.
