Court Issues Interim Order in CAN-Jora sports contract dispute

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 6 : The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has been issued a temporary interim order by the Kathmandu District Court in a case filed for breach of contract. The lawsuit was filed by Amir Akhtar, the operator of Jora Sports Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., which was responsible for organizing the Premier League. Judge Dinbandhu Baral issued the order following an initial hearing.
Jora Sports had entered into an agreement with CAN to organize the Premier League, but CAN later unilaterally terminated the contract with Jora and took over the league's operations themselves. As a result, Jora Sports filed a lawsuit in court.
Under the interim order, the court has scheduled a follow-up hearing on February 14 to decide whether to issue a formal interim order, with the presence of the defendant and other relevant parties required. The court has also ordered the Cricket Association to attend the hearing.
