Govt. to receive US $ 2 million from ADB

The fund is under 'Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund' for 'Emergency Flood Rescue Plan-2024'

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 12: The government has decided to accept 2 million US dollars (approximately Rs 277 million) from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the 'Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund' for the 'Emergency Flood Rescue Plan-2024'.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced this while briefing about the Cabinet decisions made on February 10. The Cabinet also granted approval in principle for financial management preparations related to the construction of the 670 MW reservoir-based Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project.

Additionally, the government decided to repeal the work procedure on punishment and pardon, case on hold, and change-2071. It also approved the memorandum of understanding on visa permits for individuals other than diplomatic officials and service passport holders between Nepal and Ukraine. The MoU on diplomatic studies and training cooperation between the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal, and the Diplomatic Academy of Oman was also endorsed.

Furthermore, a 15-bed basic hospital managed by Athbiskot Municipality in Dailekh district will be handed over to the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences for improved management. The Cabinet also approved the Insurance Regulation, 2081 BS.

In administrative changes, Acting Chief Secretary of Lumbini Province, Baburam Adhikari, has been promoted to the post of Gazetted Special Class Officer under the Nepal Administration Service.

The government also made several high-level transfers. Secretary at the Finance Ministry, Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire, was transferred to the Office of the President. Secretary at the President's Office, Narayan Prasad Duwadi, was moved to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Secretary at the CIAA, Ghanashyam Upadhyay, was reassigned to the Finance Ministry. Additionally, 17 joint secretaries (Gazetted First Class Officers) were transferred to various positions.
