Budget for upcoming fiscal proposed at Rs 19 trillion

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18: The budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26 is projected to be approximately Rs 19 trillion. The National Planning Commission has recommended that the Ministry of Finance keep the budget within this limit.
On Tuesday, the Commission submitted a report to the Ministry, outlining the preliminary estimate of national resources and the expenditure limit for the upcoming fiscal year. The report specifies that the budget should not exceed NPR 19 trillion.
For the current fiscal year 2024/25, a budget of Rs 18 trillion 60 billion was initially announced. However, following a mid-year review, the budget was reduced to Rs16 trillion 92 billion. The adjustments were made by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, who revised the budget originally presented by former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun.
