Deal between Ministry of Health and Tilganga Eye Hospital

KATHMANDU, MARCH 17:The Ministry of Health and Population has signed an agreement with the Tilganga Eye Institute to improve access to eye health services for Nepali citizens.
Health Minister Pradeep Poudel and the Institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Sanduk Ruit, formalized the agreement during a program at the ministry yesterday.
Under the agreement, the Ministry will facilitate customs and value-added tax concessions, in accordance with prevailing laws, on the import of raw materials and equipment used for manufacturing lenses required in cataract surgeries.
Additionally, 10 percent of the lenses produced under the Nepal Eye Program will be distributed free of charge through government hospital-run camps, benefiting citizens in remote areas with limited access to eye care services.
